History - page 2 of 2

Although the guitar group was forced to end due to the lack of a conductor, the full orchestra and starter strings continued to flourish, and alongside the wind band, put on some terrific concerts. The wind band was severly diminshed when the conductor moved away but wind players still play in the full orchestra and new players are always welcome.

Richard Fitton-Perkins decided to hang up his baton after the winter concert in 2005, which was performed in a packed Heanor Town Hall. Fortunately, Robin Padgham, conductor of the starter strings and player in the full orchestra agreed to step-in and the SHO was able to continue.

It has since put on several more concerts and is hoping to attract more players to keep the orchestra running. Players of all ages and abiltities are welcome to join so feel free to come along and see what its all about. Keep an eye out here for upcoming concert details and events. The SHO plays a range of different music and styles, aiming to provide something to everyone's taste.
